Our travels through Alaska and other places!

Thursday - 5/31/07 - 8:00 a.m. Going to bed at 10 p.m. last night and getting to sleep around 11 p.m. even with it daylight outside, made getting up a little hard this morning. :) We just got up, got our showers, having coffee and will be taking off pretty soon. Have lots of pictures to post up through Canada. Yesterday, we stopped at a beautiful river that was starting to thaw. Apparently, the river had been frozen over and was just starting to break up. Looked like a jig saw puzzle breaking apart. Pretty awesome! The weather is beautiful here this morning. Love and miss you all. 10:15 p.m. - Well, we finally got set up at a Good Sam's RV place, the Toad River Lodge & RV Park. The view of the mountains with snow on them is awesome! We pulled in here about 9:30 p.m. Lester drove about 450 miles today. The scenery on the way up here was just beautiful. Part of the problem is the road is like a two-lane country road with no place to pull off, so a lot of the pictures I would have loved to take just didn't happen, but I have plenty of others that I will post.
Wednesday - 5/30/07 - 6:00 a.m. - Good morning everyone. We're in Clinton, British Columbia, Canada. Lester drug me out of bed at 5:30 a.m. this morning. We need to put some miles behind us today! I posted one picture on the home page and will post the other pictures I've taken so far on our tour through British Columbia, Canada. Weather is really nice. 10:00 p.m. - OK Everyone...try going to bed at 10 p.m. and it's still light outside!!! How strange. We're in Chetwynd, BC, Canada right now.
Sunday - 5/27/07 - Another rainy day. I feel sorry for all the tent people that have come in during the last couple of days. The weather up here is different. One day it can be beautiful and 75 degrees and the next day it's cloudy and rainy, but still nice. I love the cooler weather, especially since talking to Rebecca in Las Vegas and my sister in Mesquite where the weather has been around 95-100 degrees! I LOVE the cooler weather! We are leaving here Tuesday heading up to Alaska!
Thursday - 5/24/07 - Well, I finally got the Reptile Zoo photos posted. Quite an interesting bunch! :) Today we drove up to Snoqualmie Falls which was not very far from where we are staying. It's probably not spectacular compared to others, but when you get up there and hear the roaring of the water falling and the feel of the mist coming off the falls, it's pretty spectacular in its own way.
Wednesday - 5/23/07 - Hi everyone. Well, we're just taking it easy around here today. Well, I am anyway. Lester is out cleaning the RV. Later on we're going to drive into Sultan, a little town outside of Monroe, WA. Since Rebecca and family are leaving Las Vegas at the end of this month, we have made a change of address to my sister who lives in Mesquite, NV. Both Rebecca and my sister, Peggy, have sent mail they have received to the General Delivery in Sultan. It should be there this afternoon, so that's our big journey for the day...getting our mail. :) This is really a hard life!!
Tuesday - 5/22/07 - We ventured out again from the Thunderbird Resort and drover over to the "Waterfront" in Seattle today. It's definitely a "tourist" area. I've posted pictures of the Seattle Aquarium and surrounding area.  It must have been "field day" for all the elementary schools because there were buses and kids everywhere in the aquarium. The weather was really nice. We got a cup of coffee and went out on one of the piers and just sat and enjoyed the weather and scenery.
Monday - 5/21/07 - Lester and I went to the Reptile Zoo in Monroe today. How interesting. I will be posting pictures within the next couple of days of these little and large creatures. Tomorrow, we're going to drive over to Seattle, WA and check out the "Seattle Waterfront". There's lots of things to see and do over there, so no telling what other pictures will be posted within the next few days. It's been raining off and on for the last 3-4 days here, but that's ok. We're enjoying it. We have been getting up in the morning and walking for about 30 minutes each morning. Lester has been doing it ever since his little "heart" episode, but I've just now started doing it. Sure does make you feel better.  Stayed tuned!! Love and miss everyone.
Saturday - 5/19/07 - We're up here in Monroe, Washington and it's beautiful as you can see from the pictures I've posted for the Thunderbird Resort.  My sister called me from Mesquite, Nevada this morning and said it was 100 degrees. Oh my gosh...it's probably been about 70 degrees up here -- a little cooler this morning since it's been raining a little. There's a little storm coming through here this weekend. Yesterday it was beautiful so I tried out the pool and spa --the water temperature must have been 80 degrees. Debbie Gomes from ROP will be up in Anchorage, Alaska the first part of June. Lester and I are leaving here earlier than planned and hopefully rendezvous with her somewhere up in Anchorage.  How exciting!
Monday - 5/14/07 - Hope all of you ladies had a wonderful Mother's Day! We are down in a hole sort of, we don't have phone reception, so have to drive up on the hill to make telephone calls. Since Mike and Rebecca are moving at the end of this month, I have put in a change of address to my sister's address in Mesquite, Nevada. The wind blew again yesterday and last night. Not sure that I've ever been where the wind has blown quite like this. Kind of eerie. We will be here until Thursday and then leaving for the Thunderbird Resort up by Monroe, Washington and will be there for two weeks (unless we decide we want to do something different) and then heading on up to Alaska.

Friday - 5/11/07 - Good morning everyone. I'm finally getting around to writing in a journal and hope to do so on at least a weekly basis. Today is our first morning here at the Crescent Bar Resort. It's pretty serene here, little bit of wildlife, beautiful lake. Although we had probably 25-30 mph gusts of wind all last night, you would have never known it this morning. It's suppose to be around 80 degrees today, but this morning, it's really nice. Lester and I went outside and had our coffee while looking out at the lake. Last night we had a wasp in our RV and when Lester went to swat him with the flyswatter, he was gone!! Oh my gosh, we couldn't find it anywhere and I had to go to bed knowing that wasp was in my RV. But low and behold, he came out this morning and Lester got him. Whew!! Well, have to go for now, Lester and I are going for our "walk".
