...and its "terraces"!

Hi everyone! We're here at these awesome terraces - as they call them
These cliffs formed columnar joints
when they cooled nearly 500,000 years ago.


Exploring
Mammoth Hot Spring Terraces


These cliffs were named for the
Shoshone Indians who lived in this mountainous region.
 

We were just driving along the scenic route when we came around a curve and there was this beautiful-looking elk. There was no traffic behind us so Lester slowed down and I took a couple of snapshots!  This elk was in no hurry to take off! He was just meandering along.
 

Devastation seen everywhere from past 1988 fire and that "beetle"
