The Photo Gallery   On the road with Lester & Shirley...
...to and through "The Top of the World" road and across a barge!!!

We're back on the road to the
United States!!

We're standing on the "On Top of the World" road!

The Alaska "Pipeline"

Couldn't begin to tell you how many of these bridges we crossed!

60  miles of gravel dusty road :(

Our "rig" at the "Top of the World" road

That's "our" road!!

Border crossing into Yukon territory. They closed at 8 p.m. and we were 20 minutes too late, so we parked the RV right here and spent the night.

And after driving a little while, we unexpectedly came to this river where you had to cross it on a barge!! (At no charge)

I didn't have any other choice but to go across the river on the barge because I sure wasn't going back over the road we just came over!

They were bringing vehicles over from the other side. Then it was this tanker's turn from our side. Whew!! I knew if the tanker could make it, my RV and me would too! I didn't panic too much. This was the first time I had ever been on a barge with a vehicle, much less a 40 foot RV.

And then it was our turn.

These were vehicles on the other side waiting to go.

Then we're off again and more construction

Rain and a rainbow. Taken through the windshield.

And more construction later on. Redoing the bridge and only one lane. One side goes and then the other side goes. There's a LOT of bridge construction going on everywhere.

This was a buffalo on the side of the road that I was able to get my camera out in time to take a picture. This is the way you see the wildlife...just meandering alongside the roads. We've seen elk, moose, bear, sheep, goats, and deer.

This was the 1st group of what they call sheep.

This was the 2nd group later on down the road.

This is the baby in the picture above. Too cute!

Rest stop

This is the 3rd group about 30 minutes later. They just walk around slowly enough for you to get pictures. Sure wish the elk, moose, deer, etc., walked around this slow.

The lakes and rivers up here are beautiful

This is where we spent the night along side this river.

This was a little bitty chipmunk??
